If you think that your organization can ignore social media, think again. What you need to do is to figure out out how to do social media in a way that helps you achieve your goals and objectives or benefits your organization. That was the message that participants at the @Marketplace Conference in Kitchener heard on Monday.
I participated in a panel of experts on the use of social media where I shared my story about how I was using it to build my business by building relationships. I emphasized that it’s really all about the long game and that there are no quick wins. On the other hand, I’m starting to see the fruits of my efforts over the past year and a bit.
The day kicked off with a presentation by Nancy Kay of Telus. It included the 2011 version of the Socialnomics video that dramatically demonstrates why social media needs to be a part of your communications mix. Here it is.
