Introducing: inspire!

I’m proud today to launch a new speaker series known as inspire!

inspire! speakers series

Why create inspire?

I founded Social Media Breakfast: Waterloo Region nearly three years ago. We’ve held 21 events so far featuring some top social media experts like Joe Thornley, Dave Fleet, Jeff Pulver and Danny Brown and several panels exploring different topics such the online food community. We’ve had many people come and enjoyed the vibe and loving the energy. Nearly all of our events have attracted 70 – 100 people with 170 who came to see Alan Quarry and Chris Eh Young debate the ROI. Our audience is a diverse range of sectors, career levels and social media experience. I have loved how we bring people together who otherwise may not cross paths.

Social Media Breakfast has been a huge success! I’m especially pleased with how these learning opportunities have enhanced use of social media as an important communications tool.

But I want to do more than what is possible within the Social Media Breakfast format which has relied mostly upon southern Ontario based speakers. I’d like to be able feature speakers from across North America and possibly those based further away. And while its $10 fee makes Social Media Breakfast affordable, it also limits risk taking including choices on speakers. But as a communications generalist, I want to enhance knowledge about the complete, diverse range of communications skills required to connect target audiences with key messages and inspire action.

So enter inspire!

What is INSPIRE!

inspire! is a speakers series for people who are passionate about changing the world. Its speakers will share how communications is critical to pursuing your vision and delivering your mission. You’ll be inspired by first rate experts in social media, public relations, marketing, print design, digital media and much more.

But inspire! is about more than communications. I plan to provoke thinking about how to inspire and realize social change. Expect some speakers to share how they have seized an opportunity to make an impact.

inspire! is an opportunity to explore the intersections of change and communications–so that we move together into a better future for all.

The inaugural inspire! event

inspire! premieres on June 10 with a full day social media conference dubbed “Social Media inspirations!” Confirmed speakers are John Haydon, Ryan Davis, Lisa Middleton and Paul Nazareth. I’m now working on pulling together a panel discussion. The emphasis will be on bringing in quality speakers and giving them plenty of time to share lots of goodness while giving participants time to connect with each other.

The conference is in the beautiful downtown Galt area of Cambridge, Ontario in the home of the Galt Little Theatre known as the Cambridge Arts Theatre.

This week I’m offering an $85 March Break special before moving to the Early Bird rate of $99. In a month, tickets will be sold at the full rate price of $125. Get your tickets now!

inspire! is especially for people active in the social profit sector. I hope to inspire anyone who works or volunteers for a charity or nonprofit.

I hope that folks outside of the social profit sector will join us at inspire! events since you can also implement and benefit many of the lessons shared. We want you to be a part of our learning community so we can learn from each other. In short if you’ve enjoyed Social Media Breakfast, I expect you’ll also enjoy most inspire! events.

We all can use inspiration. And let’s face it, changing the world only happens if more than the social profit sector is involved.

We’re starting inspire! in my home base of Waterloo Region, Ontario. I’m confident that if you live within an hour or two that these events will be worth travelling to attend.

In the future, I see inspire! events happening in other areas–wherever there is a collections of individuals who desire a better world and share a thirst for professional development in communications.
