The difference between old school marketing and social media
Putting up a video excerpt from my introduction to social media workshop yesterday, made me think of a video from Best Buy that I used when speaking to some small business owners.
What I like most about this video is how it distinguishes traditional marketing techniques that push information out to customers and how social media engages people in a dialogue. This difference means that old school techniques don’t translate very well into this new form of communication and that it’s important to embrace the difference if you are to successfully connect with people.
