From farmers to foodies: Why a social media panel about food?

The next Social Media Breakfast: Waterloo Region is a special “After Hours” evening event. We’re holding it in the evening because we’re featuring a panel of people who use social media to share their love of food.

We’re hoping to accomplish three things.

  • We’re going to show how a common interest like food can use social media in a variety of ways using a diverse set of platforms.
  • We’ll also see how social media creates the possibility for connections-many of which would not have been likely only a few years ago.
  • We hope you’ll see how the vibrant food community online can show you how your organization or business can tap into its own online community-or inspire you to start one.
If you’re interested in learning more about why we’d have a panel at Social Media Breakfast talking about food, see me interviewed by Andrew Coppolino of the 570 Food Show about this event. My segment is first and runs for about the first 11 minutes.

We’re holding this event in the evening so that we can also enjoy some of the wonderful food created by the Cambridge Mill which is in a historic building in downtown Galt. The venue and the food alone are worth coming! Advance registration is required.

If you love to cook and have an iPad, you’ll also be happy to learn that our lead sponsor is WLU Press who will launch an app for Edna Staebler’s Food that Really Schmecks.
