Jeff Pulver is the man behind the 140 Conference held annually in New York City. He’s also an investor in Twitter and Foursquare and a pioneer in the field of voice over internet protocol (VOIP). But it’s his 140 Conferences where he has made the biggest impact on the social media world. The original has spawned local versions around the world including Tel Aviv, London, England and Kitchener, Ontario. There are also 140 Conferences on special topics such as small towns, education, branding and fashion.
As a result, Jeff has heard many stories about the impact of social media. Through these conferences, he has been finding meaning in people’s use of social media. He enjoyed the #140ConfONT held in Kitchener in September and the people he met here so much that he was back in Waterloo Region recently. He spoke at an event in Cambridge last month co-hosted by Social Media Breakfast: Waterloo Region and #140ConfONT and he shared the common themes about people’s experiences with social media that answer the question: Why? You can watch his presentation here.
Thank you very much to the #140ConfONT team for sharing Jeff for a morning so that more people could hear what he has to share.
